Everybody knew they'll change. Everybody knew something is not right. Everybody knew there'll be a repulsion. And everybody knew they'll stand against each other
What gives?
Aika is very loyal. How can SHE be a liar? She never lied to anyone, even to her brother. She fairly deals with others. She respects everyone the same way they respect her. She never gave rude comments and insults.
But everything has changed. When she and her brother were brought to this school to terminate students. Taught the use of syringes and weapons to terminate violent and mind-distorted students. And self-taught to do violent acts as well.
But then, as time passes, something IS not right at all.
Ryuu will suddenly vanish and Takashi-sensei will always see him walking in complete darkness with blood blotched all over his face and clothes. A blood-stained blade dropped on the ground and his eyes, instead of green, were red... and the iris are black, like cat's eye. Takashi would see his mouth always drenched in blood, determined that Ryuu is on a bloodlust.
He does NOT have fangs. He does NOT bite a victim's neck for sake of blood. He kills his victims with reason. Blood will be spurted everywhere and he will savour the taste of blood. That is WHY he'll be seen walking and his blood-stained hand on his lips.
When Ryuu saw Aika, he knew she'll freak out. The cherubim inside her is dying. She'll become a coward. But Takashi-sensei she'll FIGHT it. She'll fight the cherubim and REPLACE it with a demon.
Since a demon rests inside Ryuu, fate predicts the demon soul will be broken into two...for them to share.
But what can they do to MAKE it into two?
Without the witness of students, Aika killed three students. With reason. She narrated about her assault because the guys were harassing her and wanted to rape her outside the campus. She used the dagger she brought and slit through their stomachs. She even killed the last guy by jabbing the blade through his head.
Aika cried after her brutal murder of three guys. Ryuu saw her covered in blood but was not surprised or shocked. Because he was, too.
...
"How many?"
"Three...how about you?"
Snort. "Almost the entire gang."
...
What can THEY do to split the demon souls apart to become two?

One by One part III
"This is it..."
"It will be over."
The men chained Ryuu's hands on a wooden log constructed into a cross shape. The troops revealed Aika's bloodied corpse to him. The death of his sister confirmed him he'll be next. He knew it will be over. He wanted this... this will sure end everything. He saw the reserved space just for him.
He'll be finally resting in peace... with his sister.
Ryuu saw Aika's pale eyes half closed. The cut on her stomach. Her guts and intestines. Her blue eyes now losing color. He knew he'll be dead next to her. He felt sorry he left her to die. But right now, he'll be killed.
On the west side, Miyako is imprisoned inside a cell. Her blonde hair have gone messy and tangled. She just wore an untidy dress. Her fingers grasped on the metal pipes. When she saw Aika dead, her heart pounded wildly. Aika was... her best friend. Now she's brutally killed...
"Aika-chan..." she trembled.
Now Ryuu's next. She grew scared, and trembled in horror.
N-no... n... not Ryuu-kun! she thought, her eyes widening in terror. T-t-t-they can't kill him! H-h-he...
The chief's assistant arrived. It was a middle-aged woman. Kazuya Otome. The chief sent the responsibility to slay Harugii Ryuu. Her heels pounded on the floor as she approached. She placed her hands on her waist with a mocking grin.
"Hello there, Ryuu-chan," she grinned. "Long time no see, eh?" She looked into his emerald and bitter eyes.
"Otome..." he winced.
The woman chuckled. "Fufufu~ isn't that adorable? Ryuu-chi always wanted to be next to Aika-chama. Ahahaha!" she let out a cutesy laugh. Otome's grey eyes glistened towards him and chuckled again. "Ryuu-chan, how was our surprise attack? Hmm?"
The male redhead snorted. "Lame."
The woman doesn't seem insulted. She just laughed. "You're lucky we didn't mummify you like your dear little sister. But since you are known to be aggressive and resourceful compared to your innocent and passive sibling, we're gonna do it the other way." One of her troops handed her a blade. A dagger. A mad smile spread across her face.
"You..." she hissed. "You destroyed our reputation! You made the entire village stand up against us! You turned our lives into misery! You and your filthy sense of wisdom!" she yelled. She pressed the tip of the blade lightly on his chin. "Now, now, Ryuu-chan. No need to fidget."
But he was not. He just gave a bitter stare. Otome prevented from baring her teeth.
"So... tough guy, eh?" she smiled maliciously. "How about we put you to sleep while tearing you limb from limb? What do you say?"
Ryuu suddenly realized something.
"Ha. So that's how you killed Aika, eh?!" he said in his cold and serious tone. "Sedating her so she won't have any slightest clue she got killed!"
Otome flinched as she forced a smile. "Ohohoho! Very good, Ryuu-chan~! Aika-chi is forcing her eyes opening even though the sedation is complete. Our men cut through her skin and did some dissection for sacrifice. She's very weak and... brave."
Ryuu smirked. "You know. You guys are a bunch of scaredy-cats. You're scared because everyone will turn against you once they found out you're only using us as tools. It's for the chief's personal paradise that valued absolutely nothing but filthy crap."
Otome clenched the dagger on her fingers. "You got a sharp tongue there, Ryuu-chan." she said with a mad grin. "It's obvious you already know why we brought you here, huh?"
"Duh? To kill me. What else could it be?"
Ugh... this boy's starting to disgust me. she thought. Her fingers grasped around the hilt of the dagger. "If you want to get your final wish granted, say your last words, Ryuu-chan. You'll die peacefully like your sister. She's waiting for you~"
But Ryuu retorted. "Die peacefully? Huh. Who do you think I am? A baby? Aika forced her eyes open because she wants to see you tearing up her skin so she won't forget it!"
Otome smirked. "Really? She was screaming helplessly. We even got it in here," she pulled out a tiny remote with a red button. She pressed her thumb as she stepped sideways, revealing a holographic screen. Ryuu watched in silence.
The men uncovered the bag and revealed a struggling Aika inside. They tied ropes on her wrists and ankles. They tied a handkerchief around her mouth still opened as they broke her glasses. But before they proceeded to their dissection, Otome appeared on the scene, holding the same dagger. She was mocking Aika while his sister just glared back.
Just as when Otome started talking, Aika was screaming. She was struggling from the ropes but she failed. Getting annoyed, Otome stated stabbing her left wrist. The girl's blue eyes widened as tears started leaking. She struggled from strangled shrieks. Otome felt overjoyed from her screams.
"A..aaagghh...." Aika managed to mouth out.
"HAHAHAHA! Does it hurt? HUH?! It's very pleasant!" Otome laughed like a maniac.
"Ta.... t-t-t... t-t-tassu..."
Ryuu felt rage. He was there in the crime scene. But... he didn't hear her screams. She was... screaming for help. But one thing that he did was... he only hid somewhere and yet he only saw her, she was already dead...
"T-t-tass....k-ke-e..."
Tasukete... tasukete.... tasukete.... tasukete....
Help...
Help me...
Tasukete... o-onii...
"Don't feel anything anymore on your left?" Otome mocked again. This time, she proceeded to her right wrist. Blood was everywhere. Aika is screaming again. Otome started stabbing her several times on her pulse. What Ryuu saw is... they didn't sedate her. Otome was stabbing her tremendously when the dissection begun.
"Tas... tasu...kete... R-Ryu..."
The screen faded. He was back in reality.
Otome's heels pounded on the floor. She gave the remote back to the men as she held the very same dagger stained with Aika's blood.
"Usoda..." Ryuu hissed. Liar!
"Me? A liar?" she asked. "Why would I?"
"You said you sedated her when you didn't."
But the woman ignored him. "So. How would it feel like dying peacefully? That would be magnificent."
"No." Ryuu said sharply as his green eyes stared intently at Otome's grey ones.
"Kill me without putting me to sleep."
The air went silent. Otome's lips formed a smirk.
"Very well then," she stepped forward and raised the blade. "Since that's your decision, I'll do it!" She abruptly jabbed the blade on Ryuu's left wrist. The boy winced. Blood spurted out. Otome dug through his skin like a stick poking the ground. A mad smile spread across her face, expecting him to scream.
Why isn't he screaming?! HE'S SUPPOSED TO!
"You want some more?" Otome forced another smile. "I'll do it to the other one!"
Ryuu opened one green eye. "Go on. You want to kill me, right? I'm not gonna scream like a girl. Because I can see a victim screaming helplessly will probably make you happy!"
Otome felt outraged. He had outsmarted her. But that's not gonna stop her. She continued stabbing him on the wrists but this time, more violent than what she did to Aika. More blood started spurting out. Ryuu is enduring the pain. Deep inside, he felt terrible pain. This is what his sister felt... he never felt it this... painful.
Aika... now I know what you felt.
You were screaming for me...
You were... crying.
Otome's raging stabs drenched the silence. She was getting impatient and annoyed. She wanted him to scream and cry. But to no avail. He was looking down, pondering, as he stared towards Aika's corpse drenched in blood.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't help you.
I'm sorry, little sister. Otome really hurt you, and now she's doing it to me.
... ...
I know you're there, Aika. You're crying. I can see your tears... you can't stop crying.
Don't worry, sis... just a little bit more.
He almost forgot... a girl's screams coming from the area. A girl's bloodcurdling scream.
"RYUU-KUN! RYUU-KUN!"
"NANDE?! NANDEEEE?!"
"Shut up, you brat!" Otome yelled.
It was Miyako. The blonde-haired girl inside the cell. She was clinging on the long pipes and begging for mercy.
"YAMETE!"
"PLEASE STOP! DON'T KILL HIM!"
Miyako was shedding tears, watching Ryuu get stabbed by the madwoman. Blood was everywhere. Otome pressed the blade into his stomach to cut it open. Miyako couldn't help but to scream. Otome is cutting Ryuu's stomach. The guy let out muffled grunts.
"Do whatever you want, Otome! Tear me open! I won't forget this," Ryuu smirked, his face drenched in his own blood. His green gaze went on Miyako, who is sobbing uncontrollably. He knew this girl. Ichinose Miyako. She, as Aika's bestfriend, was his... lover.
"M-Miyako..."
The girl looked up, her eyes filled with tears. "R-R-Ryuu-kun...!"
He let out another muffled grunt. "Don't worry about me... I...I'll be fine."
"Yada yada yada yada yada!!" Miyako shook her head rapidly. "Why won't I worry about you?! WHY CAN'T SHE KILL ME INSTEAD?! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!"
"I SAID SHUT UP!" Otome interrupted, but she didn't stop.
"YOU'RE A MURDERER! CARELESS BITCH FROM HELL!"
"URUSAI!"
"YOU KILLED AIKA-CHAN! YOU KILLED MY BEST FRIEND! AND NOW YOU KILLED RYUU-KUN! WHY DON'T YOU KILL ME?!"
"Right after I'm finished with him!" Otome retorted. "He seems too strong to die!"
Ryuu felt his focus losing. He shot another look at Miyako.
"Miyako-dono..."
"Da..."
"Daisuki da yo..."
Miyako's eyes widened. Her heart pounded wildly. The pain in her chest grew. When she heard his solemn words, she started crying. And there he was. She can only see Ryuu now lifeless. He gave in his last. He had loved her all this time...
...and now she won't be hearing those words again. Miyako's tears dripped on the ground.
"R-Ryuu-kun..." she sobbed. "I... I love you, too!" But she was too late.
"You're next."
Otome's heels approached. The men unlocked the padlock and slid the cell door open. They grabbed Miyako's arms, despite her face leaked with tears. She saw Ryuu's corpse, the cut on his stomach and fresh blood. Then to Aika and her own cut. The men unchained Ryuu and finally threw him on the reserved space next to Aika. Miyako cried.
Now she'll be going with them... very soon.

One by One part II
Hikaru looked up. A pair of emerald-green eyes stared down at her. It wasn't one of the troops.
Harugii Ryuu stood before her. The blank, serious and bitter expression is always the facial expression. Hikaru is soaking wet. Her orange jacket is soaked with mud and lake water. Her white sleeveless top got dirty. Her short brown hair slicked down. The graze on her forehead started bleeding tremendously.
"R-Ryuu!" she gasped. The male redhead stayed silent. His green eyes averted from the distance towards the hanging bridge. His gaze then went to her bleeding leg.
"You managed to escape them." he said. "That's a good thing."
"Ryuu..." Hikaru sobbed, her eyes leaked with tears. "A-Aika... s-she's --"
"I know," he cut her off. "She's dead. I saw the whole thing."
The girl was shocked. Ryuu was there... but how? He wasn't there. She didn't see him. He wasn't there when Aika was killed.
Could it be... that he was hiding somewhere nearby..?
"I..." Hikaru continued crying. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry I couldn't save her! I-I wanted to help her... b-but she left me. She left me behind and she was captured...!"
"Hikaru," Ryuu's voice suddenly have gone sharp. "She told they were after us, right?"
The girl nodded.
"The chief wanted to kill us. Because we exposed their bad reputation to the public, which is exactly the right thing. And because of us, the whole village is now their enemy. The chief wanted this village to become his personal paradise and using us villagers as his slaves."
"Yes, I know that." Hikaru nodded again. "He just doesn't want to get his plan foiled. You two did the right thing. But the plan of killing you both is wrong. The village needs to know it and they have to."
"Exactly," the redhead said. "They planned to kill Aika first. And they're gonna kill me next."
Hikaru bit her lip. Does that mean... Ryuu will conceal..?
"Ryuu, please... don't let this happen. Aika is killed because she didn't do anything. And now you're gonna conceal yourself to them and get killed, too?!"
He stared at her intently. "It's not concealing. If it is us who's gonna get killed, it's not for our sake. It's for the sake of everyone. Everyone knows what he's planning. Even if they start a rebellion, it won't work. Besides, our parents were killed because they are known to be possessed with true wisdom. When we were born, the chief and his comrades were troubled, because they knew we're inherited from their identities."
"So what?!" she retorted. "They're just jealous because you know more than they do! We admired your courage and you helped us with our problems. Because of you we were light-hearted! Because of you we have the courage to fight! Because of you the atmosphere changed! You changed the atmosphere! We wanted to change it from slavery to independence!"
Ryuu stayed silent. "You got a point. But it's too late now."
"RYUU!"
They heard series of footsteps.
"It's them..." she muttered. How can I run with this bleeding leg?
"You stay here." he said.
"You stay there, Hikaru. They're after us... it's for your own safety."
Hikaru clenched her fists. "I'll come with you!"
"No," Ryuu said sternly. "You're gonna stay there. You'll only get killed."
"So?! Aika was killed because I wasn't able to protect her! I can't let you die, too!"
The footsteps grew louder.
"There's not much time. You stay."
"RYUU!"
"Our safety doesn't matter, Hikaru." he said, looking behind him. "What's important is your safety. Anyone trying to trigger us from getting killed will also be killed. Aika left you because she doesn't want you to get killed and sacrificed her life for you. And now I'm leaving you because it's for your own safety."
"It's for your own safety..."
"It's for your own safety..."
"It's for your own safety... it's for your own safety... it's for your own safety..."
"Well? HOW CAN I BE SAFE IF YOU'RE ONLY LEAVING ME BEHIND?!"
Ryuu winced. "If I were you, I would be searching for a hiding place! You have to sacrifice the pain. Because if they see you before you can even hide, they'll kill you."
"There they are!"
"Hey! It's that girl earlier!"
"Target located. Harugii Ryuu has a companion with him."
"Hide!" Ryuu yelled at Hikaru. It was then he was cornered. Two men approached and pinned him facedown. They grabbed his hands from behind. When they saw Hikaru bleeding, two other men approached.
"Take her to the treatment center. Contact the nurses to treat on her wounds and get her to rest. We'll terminate this kid over here."
"Hai."
Hikaru starts to shed tears again. The men carried her and put her down on a stretcher. They covered her with a white blanket as they carried her inside the van.
As for Ryuu, he was pushed inside other van. The troops drove back to their headquarters. Aika's bloodied corpse has been retrieved. The blood is dry. There she was. They put on her shirt and vest back, but not in a proper way. The cut on her stomach was still visible. She was placed inside a box where they reserved the space for Ryuu.
He had the smirk on his face. His final wish will be granted...

One by One...
Two girls stayed in one abandoned house where they lived together.
Matsumoto Hikaru and Harugii Aika.
A group of crooks wanted to slay the Harugiis. Why? They were known for their astonishing intelligence, and they solve clues and put fragments together a detective have never done before. They thought they are possessed by spirits of wisdom. When they realized Ryuu and Aika know everything about their reputation, the chief of their organization made a harsh decision to terminate the two "brats". So his troops spread the entire village until they located the house where Aika and Hikaru slept.
"Target located. We've surrounded the target location."
"Aika," Hikaru woke up from the sound of them approaching. She knew they were coming. She slowly got up from her futon and tapped her hand on Aika's shoulder.
"Wake up... they're here," she said hesitantly.
"Hayaku!"
Aika opened her eyes. She saw Hikaru's eyes filled with fear and hesitation. She heard the troops' footsteps surrounding their house. With this, Aika got up and stepped on a stool, opening a secret trapdoor on the ceiling.
"Hayaku," she said to Hikaru, who climbed up and the first to get in.
"C'mon," she said, extending her hand towards Aika. "Hurry. They're out to get you." To her surprise, Aika declined her. She just shook her head and stood there.
"No, Hikaru..." she said in a calm manner, her eyes blank. "You stay there. It's for your own safety."
Hikaru stared at her in shock. "W-what do you mean? Aika, you have to get in here. Quickly! C'mon!" she urged, but once again Aika didn't move.
"They're after us..." the black-haired girl said softly. She meant onii (Ryuu) and herself. "I'll be fine, Hikaru. Don't show yourself when they get in."
"AIKA!" Hikaru protested, forcing her to hold on her hand. Aika looked down on her shoes while her friend hesitated. Then she lifted up her head and showed her her innocent smile.
"Don't worry, Hikaru-chi. I'll be fine."
Her friend skipped a heart beat. Aika closed the trapdoor, leaving her inside. The troops have barged inside while the pale girl just stood there. Hikaru trembled and started to cry, muttering Aika's name and trying her best not to be heard. She peeked from above and the troops wrapped Aika like a mummy as they sprinted off. They went into their van and proceeded to their secret garden, where they tore open the bag. They pulled out their sharp knives and their scalpels.
Hikaru slowly opened the trapdoor, looked outside to check for troops who stayed (and fortunately, she found no one) and followed them. She knows about the secret garden. She and Aika always visit that beautiful garden. She rarely spends time with Ryuu, who she thinks is very mysterious and cold unlike his sister who is innocent, warm and sweet.
When she saw the troops prepare their leave, Hikaru approached.
She then sees ravens scavenging on a dead animal. Getting annoyed from their caws, she grabbed a stone and threw it towards them, sending few away. Hikaru got furious as she grabbed a long wooden stick to shoo them away. But before she could swing the stick, she realized that the ravens' food was not a dead animal.
She saw strands of black hair scattered on the grass. Blue eyes losing their color. A pair of broken glasses and a pool of blood.
The ravens pecked the bloodied skin with their beaks.
Hikaru is standing in front of Aika's naked and bloodied corpse. There's a huge cut on her stomach, determining the troops pulled out her intestines and guts. And her corpse is scavenged by ravens.
She couldn't believe her eyes. Tears sprang down her eyes. And screamed.
The troops heard. They followed the noise. Hikaru's heart pounded wildly. She made her escape and left Aika's body behind. She hid behind a tree before the troops ran past it. Then they started to spread out.
She can't scream once more because she will attract their attention. She ran and found herself heading towards a hanging bridge. The troops followed her footsteps. She had no choice but to hide under the bridge. She scraped her leg and despite it bleeding, she slid her foot on one of the rocks. And she fell. She plunged on the lake.
Hikaru regained consciousness few hours later. She was sprawled on a lakeside. Her head had a graze. The troops were gone and nowhere in sight. She sighed in relief. But the pain in her heart didn't. The brutal death of her friend Aika... broke her heart. She cried again, grieving for her loss.
"I'm sorry..." she wept. "I'm sorry I couldn't save you..."
Then she heard footsteps. She gasped in horror, knowing it might be one of the troops. She looked up and saw emerald-green eyes looking down at her.

Innocent or not?
THIS IS ONLY A LOUSY DRABBLE THAT POPPED IN MY HEAD! (...based on what I feel right now.)
Due to the excessive hours of watching their favorite series of anime, they caught up one of the popular anime that somehow...caught their attention. They heard it was very cool, attractive and very mouth-drooling (wait, WHAT?)
And because they watched it in a hurry, they watched the episodes STRAIGHT! Only finishing to HALF of the episodes and until they finished the entire saga. Hmm, according to my imagination, the episodes were like... only twenty..?
And by the time they arrived in school, the students observed them.
They are not in their usual moods.
Cool, spicy-looking and the blank expressions.
Instead, they see red faces and pretending to be simple looks. Their eyes are different.
Who are these characters? Obvious.
The Harugii siblings. xD
To be continued... =w=

BS: Awakening
As time passes, the lives of these two siblings slowly grew complicated. Ryuu's demon is yet sleeping inside him. Aika's cherubim is about to shatter.
Their responsibilities of terminating dirt-minded psychopaths brought them towards risky situations. Their parents are about to find out the secrets of their doings. Yet they called they'll be heading back to town next week and... those two siblings don't want themselves exposed and stamped with a case.
The suicide from the school basement.
The suicide from someone's room.
The death of three girls.
The death of two students in the library.
And the other incidents, absolutely nothing to do with them compared from the above.
But then, as the atmosphere changes, Ryuu's personality grows absurd. His grim and mysterious side starts to unravel, and he hears the demonic voice that is about to control him. His green eyes will blink red all of a sudden and a black and straight pupil will form at each eye. The trouble is: how can he stop it? The energy is too strong.
Aika's cherubim is shattering. Her calm and innocent side is about to fade and transform her into a cowardly lass. She rarely shows off her demonic side. The bad news is: that side has perished as well. She wasn't suited to be a demon after all.
And then, the things called lies are formed.
But what happens when they affect their friendship and relationship?
Things will never be the same.
